Visiting Artist Timm Etters

Fry students had a great time on Thursday, May 17, interacting with artist Timm Etters. Timm is the artist that painted the Fry fox mural on the gym wall several years ago. It was wonderful for students to meet Timm and see some of his other amazing artwork. As part of the day each student had a chance to use one of Timm’s favorite tools, a Badger airbrush, to spray paint on mural paper.

Used School Supply Collection

Dear Fry parents and students,

Once again we will be collecting used markers, glue, glue sticks, crayons, watercolors, permanent markers, erasers, pencils, pens and construction or drawing paper during the last week of school. These supplies will be used by two different groups of Native Americans in Montana and South Dakota. Boxes will be set up in the art/music hallway during the last week of school.

Thank you for your generosity.

Art Institute of Chicago Field Trip

April: Fry fourth graders visited the Art Institute of Chicago. This annual event is an outstanding experience as students observe, discuss and analyze original works of art during a docent led tour. This year the student tour was Family, Self and Community. The docents were so impressed with the students' knowledge and students really enjoyed the trip. Students also enjoyed the fabulous view of the city while they ate their lunch. Each student received a family pass allowing them to return with their families. Maybe they can collect a bouquet of flowers as they hunt for flowers represented in various art forms throughout the museum.
